  • PHP object-oriented programming
  • Extensive experience customizing the frontend and backend of the Magento platform (versions 1 and 2)
  • Knowledge of vanilla Magento feature set and configuration
  • Knowledge of Magento and PHP best practices
  • Competent with MySQL-based database concepts
  • Experience with Git version control
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript
  • Multi-store e-commerce implementations
  • e-commerce data organization and relationships
  • Web services integrations (REST/SOAP)
  • Comfort working with Linux-based systems
  • Caching and scaling techniques
  • Proven experience functioning in a technology environment with a relatively high degree of autonomy and expected to exercise good judgment in difficult and sometimes stressful situations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong personal leadership ability
  • Ability to work well in a team development environment
  • Passionate about technology with a sharp attention to detail
  • Knowledge of PCI/PA-DSS compliance issues is a plus
  • Experience administering LAMP stacks is a plus
  • Proficiency with Mac OS X (our primary development environment) is a plus



  • 5+ years of experience programming in PHP 5, Java or another similar object-oriented language
  • 4+ years of MySQL or other relational database experience
  • 3+ years of web development experience
  • 2+ years of hands-on Magento experience
  • Proven ability to construct scalable Magento modules
  • 3-5 years of PHP and Zend Framework experience
  • 3-5 years Experience working with a version control system such as Git
  • 3+ years Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript (preferably Knockoutjs, jQuery, and Requirejs) and CSS


Abridged List of Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Review backlog and provide scopes and estimates for clients
  • Lead Magento projects and retainers through to completion
  • Client conversations about features and technical recommendations
  • Program custom Magento features, themes, and integrations
  • Work with other developers reviewing code, mentoring technical skills, and building custom Magento software
  • Work with Project Manager to communicate technical dependencies
  • Developing new projects built using the Magento platform
  • Leading ongoing reviews of business processes and developing optimization strategies
  • Identify quality community extensions
  • Architect new Magento bids
  • Triage and investigate unexpected problems in production environments
